Hamline University Athletics

Although he is only a freshman, Skiah Garde Garcia is already soaring to great heights as a diver at Hamline. Last weekend, Skiah finished second and third at diving events to earn a pair of All-MIAC honors at the conference swimming/diving meet. He helped the Pipers register a 98-point improvement to a final total of 248 points and a sixth place finish.

Skiah led all qualifiers in the prelims of the 1-Meter competition with a 449.95 point total. That number qualified him for an appearance this weekend at the Midwest Diving Championships being held at the University of Chicago. In the finals, Skiah's score of 424.45 in the finals landed him in third place. 

He then moved up a notch to second place in the 3-Meter competition with a 424.65 total. 

The Washington native, who is already in the school's Top Ten all-time for scores in diving, will be one of just three MIAC divers in Chicago this weekend.
