Zach Smith played the role of Little Big Man for the men's basketball team last week. The 5-11 sophomore tossed in a career high 30 points last Monday in the Pipers' 82-75 OT loss at Carleton. Two nights later, he was at it again with 25 more in a 88-79 loss to Concordia. Last Saturday, he bettered his career best with a 31-points outing in an OT loss at Gustavus Adolphus.

In addition to his points, he had a dozen assists and 10 rebounds. Zach leads the Pipers in scoring (14.5 ppg) and assists (3.7). Perhaps even more impressive is he is fourth on the team in defensive rebounds with 56.

The Burnsville, Minn. native has one more week left to torment MIAC foes on the court. Hamline plays at St. Mary's Wednesday (7:00 p.m.) and then wraps up the season Saturday against Bethel at Hutton Arena. Game time is 1:00 p.m.

That doesn't end Zach's athletic participation for the year. Come next Monday, he heads to Walker Field House to join the Hamline baseball team.
