Freshman women's soccer forward Kaley Roberts made a great first impression on everyone when she had a goal and an assist in the Pipers' season-opening 10-1 win over Wisconsin-Superior. She followed that up with an assist on the Pipers' only goal in a 1-0 over Wis-Stout last Wednesday. 

Turns out that was merely a warmup for last Saturday when the Naches, Wash. native erupted for two goals and two assists in Hamline's 5-0 win over Wis-River Falls at Paterson Field. Roberts vaulted to the head of the pack in scoring for Hamline (and second in the MIAC) with 10 points on three goals and four assists. (The latter figure ranks seventh in Division III.) 

Roberts drew assists on the first two HU goals against the Falcons. She turned goalscorer in the second half, finding the back of the net twice in a 14-minute span. The win pushed Hamline's record to a perfect 4-0 -- the third time in the past five years HU has started so fast. 

Now the Pipers turn their attention to conference play. First up: Wednesday's MIAC opener at Concordia. HU returns to Paterson next Saturday, September 17 to host St. Catherine. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
