Nicholas Grivna hit the water fast -- and kept on going -- last Friday at the Macalester Pentathlon. The sophomore men's swimmer won a pair of races  to help the Pipers defeat the Scots, 959-811. 

Grivna started strong, winning the Butterfly in 55.41 seconds. He finished strong as well with a win in the Freestyle in 50.75 seconds. (All races are 100 yards). 

In between, the Blaine, Minn. native was 13th in the IM, 16th in the Backstroke and 21st in the Breaststroke. Grivna and his teammates will get their first chance to size up against other league schools this weekend when they compete in the MIAC Relays at St. Thomas October 20.
