It was the kind of victory that is often looked upon as a turning point of a season. That may be overstating things slightly but there was no question that Hamline's dramatic volleyball 3-2 win over Loras was certainly one for the books. The Pipers shook off  25-27 and 17-25 losses to rattle off three straight impressive wins (25-13, 25-16, 15-5) in the opener of a doubleheader on the first day of the St. Catherine Invitational.

HU dropped the nightcap, 3-1, to UW-Superior and finished the day with a 5-5 record. But the talk of Butler Center was the stirring comeback in the day's first match.

The hereoes were aplenty: Steph Kaup had 12 kills and Sam Greeney-Hamlin added 10. Molly Hurrle was a two-pronged source, recording 42 assists and 18 digs. The Pipers snapped up 101 digs in this marathon with Lynsey Reimer (25) and Jamie Rubbelke (23) providing admirable backup for Hurrle. The 101 digs tied for seventh best in school history.

On offense, the Pipers hit a healthy .316 in their last two sets to privide a key ingredient in the comeback win.

Unfortunately, the momentum didn't carry over against the Yellowjackets, UWS won two competitive games in a row (25-20, 25-23) before HU broke through with a 25-20 win. UWS then claimed a 18-25 decision to end matters for the night.

Kaup had a good double (13 kills, 14 digs) while Greeney-Hamlin added a dozen kills and Hurrle dished out 39 assists and 12 digs. HU had five players with double digits digs against UWS.
