John Sellie-Hanson got his shutout. A couple of weeks ago, he was on the verge of his first career blanking before giving up a late goal in a 2-1 win mover St. Thomas. This time, the sophomore goalie steered away all 34 shots sent his way as Hamline's men's team defeated UW-Superior, 2-0, at Wessman Arena.Â
Brandon Zurn scored both even strength goals as Hamline evened its non-conference mark at 3-3. The three wins matches Hamline's total for the last two seasons combined.Â
Sellie-Hanson was the busier of the two goalies all night. He faced seven shots in a scoreless first period. In the middle frame, Zurn picked up the rebound of a
Brandon Reinholz shot to tap it in the net to open the scoring at 6:29 while Sellie-Hanson batted away 15 tries. He was equal to the challenge a dozen times in the final frame. Zurn, who also was stopped on a penalty shot, put the game away with an unassisted goal with 2:23 left in the period.
The Pipers now turn their attention to MIAC play. They open with Gustavus on Friday, November 21. The game will be played at Drake Arena at 7:30 p.m. The teams play in St. Peter on Saturday, November 22.Â
