Box Score Chelsey Bonsante came out firing ... and kept doing so ...in the Hamline women's basketball season opening game. The junior guard scored 22 points -- the most by any MIACer in the young season -- to lead all scorers but the Pipers dropped a 73-55 decision to UW-River Falls at Hutton Arena Saturday afternoon.Â
Chloe Graves added 15 andÂ
Alex Peterson snared seven rebounds for HU.Â
Tia Diggins andÂ
Emily Behrman added six points each for the Pipers.Â
The Pipers took advantage of the new women's basketball format to grab an early five point edge and held a 16-15 lead after one quarter. But the Falcons went on a 19-10 run in the second 10 minutes to lead 34-26 at halftime and kept HU at bay the rest of the way.Â
Hamline shot 31 per cent for the game and was just 3-15 from three-point range. But they also grabbed 30 rebounds withÂ
Jessica Beamon supporting Peterson with six boards.Â
The Pipers return to action next Friday when they play at North Central in Minneapolis. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
