It was worth the 15 day wait.
Hamline's softball team scored solo runs in the sixth and seventh innings for a come-from-behind 6-5 win at. Catherine Thursday. The win upped the Pipers' MIAC mark to 7-5 and evened their overall record at 14-14.
The game was started on April 3 as the second game of a doubleheader. It was called after three and a half innings with the score tied 4-4. When played resumed, SCU scored an immediate run off
Alex Molloy, who was pitching in relief. It would be all they would get off the sophomore, who earned her 11th win of the season.Â
In the sixth inning,
Megan Rubbelke led off with a double and eventually rode hom on
April Jacobs' sacrifice fly.Â
This set up a dramatic top of the seventh. With one out,
Kat Armstrong walked and Cory Stallcup ran for her.
Anna O'Connor doubled (for her third hit of the game). sending Stallcup to third, Molloy then lifted a sacrifice fly to left that scored Stallcup. Â
In the bottom of the inning, Molloy brooked no such drama, retiring the Wildcats in order.Â
Thus, a busy three days is off to a good start. Hamline now heads out on the road for a pair of double headers. On Friday, they head to St. Peter to face Gustavus Adolphus in a 3:30 p.m. twinbill. On Saturday, they cross the river to play at Augsburg in a 2:00 p.m. clash.
