Pipers Outshoot Saints, But Come Up Empty

DULUTH, MINN.—The Hamline University women's soccer team made the two-hour trip I-35 northbound to St. Scholastica for a Tuesday-afternoon bout. The Pipers finished the match with a 13-11 shots advantage, but came up empty in a 2-0 loss to the Saints.

Hamline drops to 1-9-1, 0-5-1 MIAC, while St. Scholastica's first victory of the season puts them at 1-10-1, 1-3-1 MIAC.

The Saints buried their second and third shots of the game behind Kaitlyn Sauter's tally in the 21st minute that made the score 1-0, followed by Ellie Keillor's goal three minutes later in the 24th minute that widened the margin to 2-0. Avery Sutton was credited an assist on Sautter's goal.

Sydni Thompson fired a game-high five shots for the Pipers, while Maya Dempsey and Ellie Nhean each had two.

Goalkeepers Isabella Jensen (Hamline) and Gracie Meagher (St. Scholastica) each recorded four saves.

The Pipers will host Carleton for senior day at Pat Paterson Field on Saturday, October 14 at 3:30 p.m.
